Ford Escort MK 2 1978
2 Door Mexico look-a-like (1.6 Ghia) Export Body Shell
This Escort is in VERY GOOD condition having recently been imported from a kinder climate in Asia. It is now fully MOT'd (May 2019) and Registered with a full, transferable v5.
It is mostly original but was fully restored around 5 years ago.
The body is very straight with no obvious repairs. It was repainted as part of the restoration and the new paint is still in very good condition however does have a few minor blemishes (slight rust bubbles on boot lid and slight rust just breaking through on the bottom of the drivers door - see pictures)
The interior is very clean and in excellent condition. The front seats have been replaced with genuine and original (very good) condition Reccaro 'fishnets'. The door cards and rear seats have been trimmed to 'almost' match, this has been done to a good/high standard. The original heater matrix and plumbing has been removed and replaced with WORKING air conditioning. The original heating could be re-instated fairly easily but would require the sourcing of parts. Alternatively the fitted AC can be upgraded to provide both heating and a/c.
The dash clocks/dials are in KM and currently NONE of the dials are working.
The underside of the car is VERY clean and solid. There are a few small patches that have been previously welded but they look to have been done to a good standard. The front suspension turrets have been replaced.
The engine is the original ford 1.6 Crossflow and is believed to be unmodified.
It currently sits on a set of 15" 4 spokes (RS replicas?) with good Hankook 195/50/15 tyres all round. Personally I think it sits a little high and would look better on 13's but that is down to the new owner to decide as they make it their own car.
